Katherine is a multi-disciplinary designer and artist currently working and living on Gadigal Land. Her work is driven by her desire to explore the intricacies of this world and to discover its truths. By focusing on the intersection of design and reality, she has found understanding by visualising meaningful connections and processes.
This publication will delve into the duality between mysticism and human rationialisation through the exploration of clouds and cloud systems. While clouds were once imbued with mysticism by our ancestors, there has been a cognitive shift to rationalise and categorise things that were once considered intangible. The Embroiderers’ Guild is a not-for-profit organisation for embroidery and textiles in NSW. Back to Basics worked towards the goals of Embroiderers’ Guild: creating awareness, increasing engagement and accessibility, and engaging embroiderers of all ages, old and new. This project was done in collaboration with Julia Agosti, Cecilia Wang and Tayla Millar. In Vertigo Magazine: Autonomy we wanted to highlight the invigorating and empowering student voices of UTS. We sought out to explore the eternal dichotomy between control and freedom. We asked, and you sure delivered. You gave us your stories of struggle and triumph, and here we present them to the world, in black white and red. Vertigo Magazine: Pandemonium was put together in the shadow of Autumn Semester, while the stress of exams and internships were at an all-time high. And yet, UTS students pulled through and delivered creative, inquisitive and deliciously chaotic content. This project focused on creating promotional branding assets for the Adobe typeface, Bely Display. To showcase its unique and bold characteristics, I have used line-work alongside punchy colours to outline these features. These assets go alongside the kinetic type poster to create an exciting brand for the typeface.
