Be My Guest is a publication that explores my family’s Chinese Timorese cultural identity and migration journey to Australia. Where my family’s favourite ‘homefoods’ are influenced by their long journey to rebuild a home in Australia, this project celebrates my family's recipes and untold stories of the past. A glimpse into the heart of my home where stories are told and life lessons are learnt, this publication is a celebration of how the flavours of home can so powerfully connect us to the past but also create pathways to the future in order to preserve culture and identity. This project highlights the hardships and experiences that other migrants and children of migrants can relate to. A very personal project that has been an invaluable project to develop and create, Be My Guest shares my humbling return to my roots and meals of my childhood.
